Discover Orvieto is offered each of three weeks in May and September/October, running concurrently with the Creative Exploration Workshops at right. The Girlfriend Getaway is our women's only trip offered twice a year. We offer both of these trips to small groups of at least 6 any time of the year.

to transfer the images to fabric, and do so in creating book covers, scarves and purses.

while your companion takes a Creative Workshop,

Introduction to the simple joys of Italian culture.
You cook a delectable meal with a fabulous Italian
chef, while learning the secrets of using fresh local
ingredients.
Visit a vineyard and meet the owner as he tells you
his philosophy for creating wines with character. Sip
several of his favorites and learn how each is unique -
a most intimate wine tasting.
Shop as the locals do at the weekly market, where
fresh local produce makes tempting ingredients for a
picnic lunch.
Discover the history and production of olive oil as you
take part in an olive oil tasting in an historic Etruscan
cave.
Linger as you explore the finest Gothic cathedral in
all of Italy.

Italia Ispirato: Journal Painting a Sojourn

Creative Exploration Workshops May 8 - 14, 2011
Discover your visual vocabulary by creating a mandala using camera, blind contour drawing, writing, and painting. The mandala is a sacred circle within a square or rectangle used by many cultures to lead to introspective meditation or prayer.
A Personal Portrait of Italy
Mixed media, photography with DJ Pettitt
Create a hand bound journal, filling it with found treasures and by altering and painting photographes you take in Orvieto. Sample of altered photo can be seen at left.

"Mapping Your Sensorial Everyday Life"
Mixed media map book and space design with Gina Foglia
Visit Orvieto's public & private spaces, developing an understanding of space design. Then color, paint, draw, collage, and sew your experiences and impressions into a mixed media map book.
Join Ellen in scavenging material from Orvieto's many wonderful spaces to make a series of transparent postcards, using silk vellum and glue, all housed in a collaged postcard book of your making.
